      Hi,
Thank you for your interest in shooting sport. Firstly, our shooting range is for members only. But in order to encourage more people to experience shooting sports and eventually join our club, we introduce `Day Membership’. Day membership allows non-members to become our club member for 1 day. What you need to do is pay RM10 (for 1 person) for the Day Membership and you are registered as a member for that day.
After paying RM10 you can use the Club facilities at various charges. These charges are for firearms rental, ammunitions and targets. Normal members are also required to pay these charges but at lower rates while firearms rental is waived. For more details and charges comparison between Normal Members & Day Members, you may contact our Range Executive, En. Mohd. Faiz at 019-7967866 / mdfaiz@kulim.com.my

You may come to the shooting range from Wednesday to Monday (closes on Tuesday) from 9am – 5pm. Or you may join our shooting clinic which is organized on the 1st Sunday of every month.

Look forward to seeing you at the range!

      • January 24, 2012 at 12:32 PM

Salam as for day membership. Is there any other requirement ?

  2. July 28, 2011 at 1:36 AM

Salam. I like to know more about this club. How to be a member and how much to pay. Thnks and can’t wait to joint JCTSA.

    • August 20, 2011 at 7:53 AM

      Salam Zamani,
Thank you for the interest in our club. Anyone above 18 years of age is welcomed to join our club. When you submit your membership application, we will send it to the police for vetting. Upon approval by the police then only will you be accepted as club member.
Once you’re a member, we will assist you in getting firearm licence. While waiting for the licence, you can use the club’s facilities such as point 22 rifle, air weapon, archery and attend our monthly shooting clinic.
The registration fee is RM300 (one time only) and annual fee is RM200.

Hope to see you at the range soon!

    Hi there,
I am a “B” License holder under MSA. I’d like to know if I can use your facilities whenever I was on business trip to Johor? Am I allowed to bring own club gun and purchase the ammo from your club?

    • September 7, 2011 at 6:14 AM

You are welcome to visit our range and use the facilities (subject to a RM10 fee for a day membership). As a “B” license holder you are subjected to the restriction to carry and use specific gun at specific location as stated in your license. Therefore, you can bring the gun to our club BUT you will need to get police permit to carry and use it there because the gun is to used in a different location. And yes ammo is available at our range.

      • September 7, 2011 at 10:05 AM

        Thanks for the input…
I’ll check out the location issue as I remember it was not a very specific address..

    Hi there,
Can I know that the firearm license is nationwide recognize once we become a member?
Can we use this license to other shooting range to train? Is it valid?

    hi,
can i know the license is worldwide recognize?
Can we use it if we at other shooting place?

    • November 24, 2011 at 10:50 PM

The license is called “Carry and Use” License or also known as C & U or `B’ License. It means you are allowed to carry and use the firearms listed in the license at a specific place e.g. at the JCTSA Range only. The license is recognized in Malaysia. If you wish to carry & use the firearms outside of Malaysia for competition, for example, you will be required to apply a firearms export and import permit from the Malaysian police. At the same time, the competition organizer (oversea) will also need to apply for import & export permit to bring in your firearms (depending on their firearms law and regulations).

      Hope this helps.

    Hi,
I have special interest in shooting since childhood especially after watching the shooting tournaments in olympics and SEA games. I’m more interested in target shooting rather than clay shooting as I’m more into accuracy and consistency as I felt it’s a good training for mentality and cultivate patience. Would like to enquire if such facilities are available in the club ? Is there a trainer that I can engage ? I hope you can answer these questions.
    Thank you.

    • January 4, 2012 at 3:27 PM

There are 2 major shooting sports bodies in the world. The ISSF (International Shooting Sports Federation) and IPSC (International Practical Shooting Association). The various shooting categories competed in Olympics or Sea Games are under ISSF. IPSC promotes practical shooting and have their own circuit and tournament.

At our range we have both ISSF and IPSC shooting. We have clay target, air weapon and point 22 rifle shooting which are ISSF and 9mm pistol shooting which is IPSC.

Unfortunately currently the club is unable to engage a full time proper trainer. However, our range assistants are capable of teaching / coaching basic shooting techniques. We can also arrange short training sessions with some of our members who are well experienced in shooting at major tournaments.

    Dear Sir,

What is target sooting and clay target? Thanks.

    • January 4, 2012 at 3:07 PM

Clay target is target made of clay which is launched into the air by either manually operated laucher or an automated trap machine. The target is shot using shotgun and not pistol.

Target shooting is where the target is usually static. The target doesnot move (or launched into air). It can be shot by either pistol or rifle.

When you assist the individual in getting a firearm licence, what are the cost and how long will it probably averagely take in getting a firearm license approved? After if which we get our license, can we actually purchase a firearm?

    • April 25, 2012 at 11:17 PM

We assist by submitting to the police the license application and occasionally doing the follow ups with the police. There’s no charge for that. The process depends on the police and sometimes can take up to 3 months for license to be approved. To purchase a firearm, you need to apply to the police License `A’ – license to own firearm. As a club member, we assist you in getting License `B’ which is license to carry and use Club’s firearms. You cannot purchase firearms with License `B’. For License A, you have to apply directly to the police.

I am a foreigner working here in Malaysia. If i will join your club and perhaps do some firearm training, is it possible that i can acquire a firearm license and permit to carry concealed gun? If so, what are other requirements and procedures for me to be able to get a firearm legally in Malaysia? I was a licensed gun owner back in my country before coming here. Thank you and hope you can help me on my queries..

    • November 16, 2012 at 1:03 PM

      Dear Jomans.
Owning a gun in Malaysia is very strict and difficult. As a club member, a “Carry &Use” license can be issued to you. But this license only permits you to carry and use gun belonging to the club within the shooting range. License to Own a gun is not issued on ground of becoming a shooting club member.
You need to approach any nearby police station in order to know the process of owning gun in Malaysia

    Hello,

I’m thinking of trying e first sunday gun trial run in june or july. I have no prior experience in guns

    Got a few questions
    – how do i sign up for it?
    – any forms or person to inform before going?
    – payment in cash or credit card?
    – what is e typical costs in total?
    – would i be able to try all e different guns available?
    – anything particular to note?

    Thanks

    • June 26, 2013 at 11:59 AM

You may call the range executive in advance (Mr. Faiz 0197967866) since you have no prior experience in guns and therefore may require extra help.
Once you are there, please register as a day member. As a day member you may use club facilities. For firearms you are limited to air weapon and point22 rifle only. 9mm and shotgun requre police license.

Payment is in cash. Typical cost – RM10 (day member per person) + RM5 (gun rental per unit per person) + Ammo + Target (depends on type and quantity).

Wear proper attire – long pants & shoes.

I was introduced to your club by by a instructor in CSSG, Mr. David. I see he is one of your committee member. I’m a Johorean, I’m interested in IPSC/IDPA sports and I will like to joint as a ordinary member, how long does it take to approval? Especially the vetting process.

    • June 26, 2013 at 11:02 AM

Thank you for the interest. The Club will usually submit your application to the police as soon as we received it. Unfortunetely the vetting process depends entirely on the police. We had experienced as long as 3 to 4 months only for the vetting approval.

Hi, would like to ask some questions as below:
    1. Your club is only located in Johor or Is there any location nearest to Negeri Sembilan?
    2. Do we need to pass the vetting process to own a B license?
    3. Is it necessary to own a B license to upgrade to a A license which we need to approach our nearest police station. What is the specify requirement.
    3. Do we need to often come down for practice to maintain our license.
    4. Is the B license issued by your club is only strictly use at your range or I could use at other range?
    Thank you for advice.

We are sorry that we are purely shooting sports club and unable to organize hunting trip.
Based on the limited knowledge that we have, we think hunting in Johor is not permitted or highly regulated.

Membership is opened to all Malaysians aged 18 and above. You can download the membership and police vetting forms from our Membership page (and follow the instruction). Since you are in Sarawak and we need to have your original signature on the membership & vetting forms, the best way is for you to mail them over to us.
